In 2010 lanceerde Louis Vuitton een campagne om het ambachtelijke van hun producten te promoten. Het waren mooie foto's van een handwerker aan het werk aan een tas, een schoen, een koffer ... Supermooie foto's die een onderschrijving waren voor ambachtelijk werken, zoals ook Maurits Dingeldein (ontwerper) altijd doet. Maar er kwam protest tegen deze campagne:  artikel op independent.co.uk . De organisatie die advertenties op hun waarheidsgehalte beoordeelt (ASA) oordeelde dat de reclames misleidend waren. Het meeste werk aan de producten gebeurt namelijk met naaimachines en niet met de hand en Louis Vuitton wilde niet bekend maken hoeveel werk dan nog echt handwerk is. Argument van LVMH (het bedrijf achter Louis Vuitton) was ook wel dat handnaaimachines toch ook onder handwerk vallen. Maar ze gaven ook de ASA wel gelijk, te meer ook omdat ze modellen voor de foto's gebruikten en er dus weinig authentieks aan was. Persoonlijk denk ik dat een afwisseling van handwerk en naai...

ik ben een behoorlijk nuchter persoon, gevoelig, maar nuchter. waarom hoort daar dan toch een belangstelling en gevoelens bij voor mooie ontwerpen, literatuur en kunst. ik vind geld niet belangrijk alleen nuttig tot op zekere hoogte, draag het liefst afgeragde spijkerbroeken, al vele malen versteld, maar waarom zijn mooie dingen dan wel belangrijk voor me. tijd voor onderzoek. waarom bestaat kunst op de school of art het filmpje van de school of art wijst op vijf belangrijke elementen van kunst. kunst geeft hoop in een tijd van mindere dingen als oorlog, lelijkheid, verdriet ... kunst leert ons dat pijn en verdriet voelen gewoon is. we worden niet gek, we voelen wat iedereen wel eens voelt, maar verborgen houdt, behalve in kunst en literatuur. kunst brengt balans in ons leven. het compenseert gevoelens waaraan het ons ontbreekt. kunst helpt ons waarderen wat goed en mooi is. het zet schijnwerpers op dingen die het waard zijn gezien te worden. kama en herr seele, nrc handelsblad 21/12/15 in december last year, a discussion came up in the media about fashion designers having to be restricted in using skinny models. i was triggered on this subject by a cartoon in the nrc handelsblad, showing a giacometti sculpture with a pony-tail on a catwalk. more than twenty years ago i wrote my master thesis about the elongated and skinny figures in the art of the fin the siècle of the 19th century. were those artists ever forbidden by law to expose their art like the fashion designers are now restricted in several countries like france? of course, some gallery owners may have refused their art, but the law never obliged them to change their figures, paintings and sculptures. in my opinion, fashion designers are artists too. so if they prefer their fashion to be shown by skinny models, they should be free to do that. of course, the health of the models is important, but they have their own responsibility and if they are not ...

did you ever take a look on the etsy.com website? it is the ideal website if you are searching for sustainable made at home things. and if you search for the etsy shops in your hometown, maybe you will discover that almost next door, you can by the homemade things you searched for. internet makes shops less visible in the real world but if you know where to search on the internet, you can discover real pearls.

also enjoying the graffiti paintings in your neighborhood? nearby my house regularly high school students get lessons in working with graffiti. if they learn it as an art, maybe they will not so easily use it illegal. two dutch brothers made their hobby into a business: i want graffiti .
